Landmarks, monuments, or memorials composed of stacks of stones, or burial places covered with stones or a large mound of earth. Usually reserved for ancient structures located in Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. For burial mounds specific to England, use "barrows." For piles of earth, generally, use "mounds"; for piles of earth used specifically over tombs, use "burial mounds."
