Imari ware

Arita porcelain ware made from the beginning of the 18th century onwards, characterized by dense, crowded decorations based on native textiles and brocades, painted in several colors, typically with a blackish underglaze and strong blues and reds. It is so named for the port of Imari from where it is shipped.
