chine appliqué prints
Nota de aplicación
Prints in which the image has been printed onto a thin sheet of paper, such as China paper; the thin sheet is then backed by a thicker sheet of paper. These prints usually date from the 19th century. They were prized because thin China paper received the intaglio impression readily, and the product had a richer appearance than a standard print. Over time, the two types of papers age differently, and conservation problems may result.
