Works in which paint is applied on a textile support with only a thin glue preparation or no preparation; the painting surface remains flexible, and the works are often rolled and portable. These works were popular in Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy. For similar works on textiles having a thin gesso preparation, popular in Spain and its colonies, prefer "sargas (visual works)."
