Subclass comprising three orders, Alcyonacea, Helioporacea, and Pennatulacea, of water-based organisims with around 3,000 species. Polyps have 8 pinnately branched tentacles, 8 mesenteries, and a single siphonoglyph. Nearly all colonial with internal skeletons.
