A synthetic fabric with a thick, soft pile, used for outer clothing and blankets. Originally developed in 1979 by Malden Mills, a Massachusetts textile maker. Made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET), it has been adopted as an alternative to wool in applications that require warmth. It can be made from fibers recycled from plastic PET bottles.
