Containers made of birchbark wood, often decorated with quillwork, incised designs, or beadwork. Used for a variety of purposes, from souvenirs to household containers. Historically made by Native North Americans from the Northeast and Great Lakes and by First Nations communities in Canada; contemporary makers of boxes reside across North America.
