Culture and styles of the ancient African kingdom of Kush, located at the confluence of the Blue Nile, White Nile, and Atbara rivers in present-day Sudan. The Kushite kings ruled as pharaohs of the Twenty-fifth Dynasty of Egypt. Kushite art and architecture, though inspired by the canons of New Kingdom and Ptolemaic Egypt, showed increasing independence in the first millennium BCE.
