The culture of a Native American people of the desert regions of Arizona and Sonora in the southwestern U.S. and northern Mexico. Name was changed in 1985 from Papago to Tohono O'odham tribe. The homelands of the Papago Indians include the desert regions of the northern Sonora and Arizona. The Papago tribe is a descendant of a larger tribe called the Hohokam. They were traditionally semi-sedentary and speak the Uto-Aztecan language.
