Nota de aplicación
Formerly used to refer to what was considered an order of mammals characterized by either the complete lack of teeth, or teeth that are small and few, such as in armadillos and anteaters. It was subsequently realized that Edentata was polyphyletic, meaning it contained animals that were actually members of unrelated families; thus the order is now considered invalid by cladistic standards.
