Nota de aplicación
A crystalline phenol first isolated in 1719, formerly much used as a fungicide and disinfectant in conservation of works of art. While it is effective as a mold and mildew inhibitor, thymol dissolves oil paints and varnishes over time, and discolors paper to which it has been applied.
