Nationality, culture, and style of one of the four major divisions of the ancient Greek people, along with the Doric, Achaeans and Ionians. They came from the area of Aeolia, comprising a group of ancient cities on the west coast of Anatolia, founded beginning ca. 1130-1000 BCE by Greeks speaking an Aeolic dialect.
