Nota de aplicación

Painted ware of mid-late Neolithic widely diffused in southern Italy during the fifth millennium. It is named for a site near Matero and is characterized by necked and flat-bottomed vessels with distinctive spiral handles. Serra d'Alto ware, which is often found among grave goods, may have been created as a prestige item intended for trade.
