A culture and style of pre-Muslim Central Asia, named after, but not restricted to the area of Sogdiana. Noted visual arts were created 5th/ 9th centuries. Many cultural streams united in the area of Sogdiana, including Sāsānian culture, post-Gupta India, and Sui and T’ang Chinese. Style is characterized in painting and carved wood.
