Nota de aplicación

Tubes used to dispense the consecrated Eucharistic wine. It is typically of larger diameter than a "eucharistic straw," and usually has a reservoir in which a serving of wine is held until released into the mouth of the recipient. Although the term may have overlap with "eucharistic straw," the straw typically is used for sipping. The purpose of the tube was to prevent spillage of the consecrated wine; it is known from ancient times, when methods of sharing the wine included spoon, straw, and tube.
