Nota de aplicación
A spectoscopic technique which employs the Mössbauer effect. After the recoil-free absorption of a beam of Gamma radiation by a solid sample, spectroscopy detects minute changes in the nuclear environment of atoms investigated. In archaeology and conservation contexts, the technique is of special use in studying crystalline structure in iron artifacts, and iron-bearing phases of pottery.
