Salt formed by adding hydrochloric acid to lithium. Lithium chloride is the compound used to produce lithium metal by electrolysis. Thanks to its hygroscopic capacity, it is used for controlling relative humidity within a sealed environment. It is also used as a soldering flux, and to produce red colors in pyrotechnics.
