In Pre-Colombian and current Central and South American cultures, containers, usually metal, to store small amounts of powdered lime used in chewing of coco leaves. Usually includes a receptacle, a lid, and a stick or pin used to place the lime in the mouth. Poporos may be decorative, indicative of social status, and thought to incorporate mystical powers.
